In Paris, long ago, a male bearded friend. Long loose thick hair down to his shoulder blades. Tall and stout built. A gentle natural scientist.

One day, he invited me to his home. As soon as he opened the door, I was shocked ! Millions of cats were feeling at ease in his small 3-bedroom house ! Small cats. Big cats. They were absolutely everywhere : on top of cupboards, on the TV set, on the window sills, on the bookshelves, in the cupboards, in the lavatory, all over the place ! I had to investigate the number case. How many cats have you got in here? Thirty-three !!! OMG.

Then I went into the kitchen. There, I almost fainted. I saw cats walking on the baguettes, sitting in the basket full of bread, in the half open cutlery drawer, dwelling on the stove, lying on the plates. Terrifying ! It was too much for me since it was my very first encounter with house pets. I grew up in a home without any pets. My parents were already worn out with five kids ; they could not afford looking after pets otherwise they would have died.

A couple of years later, he fell in love. His woman asked for a number reduction. 33 became 11. That is what marriage or partnership is all about : compromising.

Then, two sweet little daughters were born. Cats still outnumbered human beings by 7. Time went by. After a cat died, no longer need for an urgent replacement. Kids grew up and left the parental home to follow their own paths.

Some years ago, he was still living in the same house with his beloved wife. No pet was to be seen within a short distance. Not even a gold fish.

His two grown-up daughters have no pets. I can understand why.
To be sincere, I do not love cats so much. You can understand why.
