2009 Solar Decathlon

October 28, 2009

VOA Voice Of America :

germanyf2t11x ‘On a cold weekend this month, thousands of people waited in the rain to visit twenty unusual buildings set up in the heart of Washington, DC. They gathered to see buildings that get all the power they need from the sun. But these structures were not just about solar power. They offered visitors a chance to step into the future of home design and household technology.

The houses were entered in the Two Thousand Nine Solar Decathlon. The United States Department of Energy organized the event. It brought together teams representing twenty universities from Canada, Germany, Spain and the United States. The main goal was to create beautiful homes that can meaningfully cut energy use.

_______
At last…
It has been one of my strongest wishes all these years. I have many chargers and it’s such a nightmare to grab the right one at the first glance. They are all black and stupid. I hate having thousands of chargers to keep me company. I could hug the gentlemen who signed the agreement which opens up a new era. These people understand me very good. No doubt about that. Congratulations, gentlemen ! Great job ! I am very proud of you.

A 6-year-old Boy All Alone In The Skies Of Colorado

October 15, 2009

balloon

The balloon just landed. 3:36 pm ET
But no boy inside. Where can he be at this time?

6 pm ET, the little boy has been found. He was hiding in a box in his own home.
Just unbelievable! So many people were worried for him, not knowing if he could land safely without broken bones. But he did not care at all about us, probably dozing in his little box in the attic of his home.
It’s not nice at all to scare people to death the way the whole family did it.
Who is going to be responsible for all that big circus? Or should it be called otherwise?

Who’s gonna pay the bill now?

SCAM ! ‘Google Work at Home’

September 20, 2009

SCAM ! Google Work From Home Starter Kit.

Question :
I got a pop-up ad alleging that Google is hiring for a “work-at-home” program.

Answer from Google Employee :

I’m sorry to hear about this problem you were having. However, that company that offers that scam is NOT Google. They are scammers who are taking advantage of people. We are doing everything we can to try and stop them, but they continue to fool innocent people into giving them their money.

Please dispute the charges on your credit card and do everthing you can to get your money back. Again, I’m sorry you fell victim to this scam, but please know that we are not affiliated in any way with this program.

His & Hers. A Can Opener Story.

September 14, 2009

He likes it big. And metallic solid. She likes it foldable, small, invisible. Can two people of the kind live in the same flat, use the same kitchen and put their things in the only kitchen drawer available?

can-opener

Yes, they can. But she has to pay a high price whenever she needs to open a can. The cupboard drawer is deeper than wide. And each and every time she wants to grab her tiny P-38, she sees only his huge can opener, blocking the entrance to the drawer in the first place. No room to enter her little hand. She must remove it to rummage at ease in order to find her can aid. Because it is very small, she puts it in a little box as near as possible to the front side of the drawer. That’s what she does regularly. But some weird djinn places it back deep inside in the drawer, where darkness and obscurity live in unison.

She is furious every time because his can opener is so big. Bigger than an elephant. Many times she meant to throw it into the garbage. Once, she actually did it. But then, it got replaced by a bigger one. So impressive. She has always been wondering how come two devices, completely different in prices and in volumes are meant to achieve the same task…

Maybe it is the reason why in this apartment, cans are opened only once every month or two months.

The Basics of Typing

February 7, 2009

In cyberspaces many customers are still fighting with their keyboards. Their eyes commute from keyboard to screen and from screen to keyboard, again and again, painstakingly looking for each letter they need to write down their thoughts. In doing so, their eyes enjoy a 1st class lubrification but it’d be so much besser to fully concentrate on your thinking than on a lousy piece of hardware.

Typing lessons for QWERTY,
the US standard 101 keyboard

Make your life easier. Start learning typing /keyboarding today. You won’t regret it. It took me only 2 full weeks (1 hour per day) to learn the skills of typing. Then two short weeks of training later, I became Master of the Universe.

Three keyboards have no secrets for me : I can type on German, French and US keyboards very easily. It takes me only a few hours to switch from QWERTZ to AZERTY to QWERTY.
